"The Story of Adam & Eve's Pets"

Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said, "I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.
And it was a good animal.
And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.

And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, "I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, "I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased. . . . . .

And Dog was happy. . . . .

And Cat didn't give a **** one way or the other...

Animal Shelter Food

For all you animal lovers. This is pretty simple!
The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "
feed an animal in need" for free. It's in a purple box in the middle of the page. This doesn't cost you a thing.
Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Dogs Relieve Stress In College Students

Survey shows college students who own a pet are less stressed!

Introduction

This is a blog dedicated to those dogs that have touched our lives. Some are still with us, and others are memories. Consider this blog as a way of releasing endorphins without exercising! My first memories of childhood include my dog, a mixed breed, named Dottie. My Dad told me in later years that I had picked out the runt of the litter and possibly the homeliest puppy as well! She was white, long haired, with large black and orange spots and a bob tail! But what comes to mind when I think of her, is her sweet face. She would cock her head and listen to everything I had to say. Living on a farm, and being much younger than my siblings she was my constant companion. She saw me through my brothers leaving home for the armed services, my sister moving away, and my transition from country school to public. As if on cue, she left me as I entered my teen years. Growing up included missing sharing life with a dog. When our children were young, we planned for a family dog. The opportunity came when a co-worker had a litter of Golden Retriever puppies. The kids kept a running list on the fridge of possible dog names; one list for each of them so the right child would get credit for the name of course. We had the male pup home for two days before a decision could be made. Incidentally, the same number of days my husband and I took to name our newborn son! The new family member would be called "Doggie Junior" using a name from each list. I offered, "Auggie Doggie Junior". It was a hit. Auggie also became known as "August", "Augustus", and "Honey Dog". Eleven years of stolen socks, visits to the neighbors compost, jumping off the dock, chasing tennis balls, and stuffed animals provided glorious memories for our family. Two months after his passing, our vet suggested we "just check out" an "oops" litter of Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab pups. How does one visit puppies and not take one home? Exactly. Today we have "Buckshot", known as "Buck", "Mister Mister", and "Buckles". He is a leaping, licking, twirling bundle of love that loves his life. Just what two empty-nesters need to keep the endorphins going. As Auggie used to say, "Pet me! Release the orphins!" (He wasn't always good at getting the right terminology!) Now let's hear about your dog(s) and "release the orphins!"
